Drill Bra FTW

Kataude mashin gâru
(2008) aka
The Machine Girl

Directed By: Noboru Iguchi

Tagline: Sushi, Tempura, Ninja, Revenge.

An epic tale of murder and revenge. Ami Hyuga has a little brother who is constantly bullied to no end. One day, she finds her brother being chased down by the bullies and he ultimately gets killed. She hunts down the killers family only to get captured, tortured, and maimed. She escapes and finds her way to the family of her brother's friend's parents who also lost their son to the same murdering family. They train together and go on a final mission to kill the ones who destroyed their lives. First of all, I want to say that this movie rocks. The story is a typical revenge tale but everything else is so unique and over the top. The violence and gore in this one is EXTREME. So extreme that it becomes comical. The kills and use of different props are super creative and each one different from the one before. There is one scene where Ami calmly confronts the parents of one of the killers and ultimately her arm turns into a giant piece of shrimp tempura. Cheesy things like this are what make this movie fantastic. Tokyo Shaock has been putting over the top movies like this out on DVD for a while now, but this is the first time they have ever made their own movie. Usually fan boys don't translate to good directors/producers, but the Tokyo Shock crew hit this one out of the park. If you haven't seen The Machine Girl yet, pick it up and watch it with some friends. You will all have a good laugh and be talking about it for years to come. The Machine Girl gets a 4.5/5.
